A shopaholic’s guide to #Indie2017

It’s time to shop, ladies! Crafts, handmade trinkets, home decor, illumination art, paintings, stationery, fashion accessories and so much more is set to be available at the fourth Indie Craft Show this weekend.

The show represents independent artists and crafters within the urban craft scene from across the country.

While the art and craft scene is now thriving, exhibitions catering specifically to creatives are limited. The Indie Art and Craft Show   is a platform for local talent to show off their wares and for us to shop!

With free entry and an overload of energy it is easy to get intimidated by the sheer amount arts and crafts available. We suggest doing a bit of research before you head to the  Royal Rodale – or you can just check out our picks for #INDIE17!

Digital artist and illustrator, Abeer Kasiri will be showcasing original fan work of celebrities (we love her rendition of Hugh Jackman!) and cute illustrations. The artist will also toonify’ visitors live at the show!

Expanding from her launch collection in 2013 of vibrant ladies bags, BLENDS by Sameeya has since diversified into designing hand-painted silk stoles and accessories such as folders, iPad covers and cushion covers.

All the way from Faisalabad, Abees99Creativity will be showcasing original oil on canvas paintings at stall number 45. Her work detailed work is  composed of flowers and trees.

Artist and baker Rida Hussain creates adorable geek culture paraphernalia that will make the perfect keepsake. From a wand from Ollivander’s for a Harry Potter fan to a Batman print for die hard followers of the dark knight this stall has a little something for everyone with a pop culture obsession.

This edgy mixed media artist pushes the envelope of the traditional canvas with multi-dimensional art that challenges perceptions and looks stunning.

Recently making waves, Mera Art is a husband-wife duo of textile designers creating digital home decor items, tunics, stoles and more. They will be at stall number 25.  We love their funky botanical cushion covers priced at Rs650.

Each home and garden product FunparaZ is created through a collaboration of artists and hobbyists who believe in crafting original art pieces. Their quaint bird feeders and glass paintings are made by hand to add character to any garden.

Ten year old, Nur is certainly breaking stereotypes by putting her grandmother’s best recipes for natural skin care to work with her entrepreneurial spirit. This young lady creates natural products for better, healthier and youthful looking skin.

Giving someone a handmade card or handcrafted gift basket doesn’t have to mean two hours with a UHU stick. Embellidors has a variety of handcrafted work that speaks volumes for your little moments and gestures. Place a customized request or select from available variety to make your special someone’s day brighter with cards, albums, keepsake gifts.
