Directed by the award-winning Nabeel Qureshi, upcoming film ‘Load Wedding’ released its very happening trailer last night to high acclaim. Packed with comedy, drama, romance, the film looks promising, as Nabeel’s projects tend to.

After the hit of his film ‘Actor-in-Law’, which starred the talented Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat, ‘Load Wedding’ will once again feature the two in unique roles. Fahad Mustafa has clearly been a top choice for the director (having been featured in ‘Na Maloom Afraad’, ‘Na Maloom Afraad 2’ and ‘Actor-in-Law’) and Mehwish seems to be the same now!

We asked Nabeel what his response is to people saying they rather see new faces now.

“Do people get bored of seeing Salman Khan?” Nabeel questioned. “Stars like Salman, Shahrukh and even Tom Cruise have been around for over 25 years, and if people are bored of Mehwish and Fahad who have only been around for the past 4 years, I find no sense in that! They have only given hit films, so why can’t they be cast?”

What is ‘Load Wedding’ banking on, as compared to ‘Parwaaz Hai Junoon’ and ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2’,  both of which are releasing at the same time, is another valid concern going around.

“I do feel our content is strong, fresh and relatable as compared to the other two films,” Nabeel opined.  “All three films have a different genre though, so that’s not a main concern, the only challenge is to get maximum screens. We have 150 screens across Pakistan, which is okay for two films, but because of the delayed release of another film the number of screens becomes a problem.  I think it’s pretty unfair to shift the release date with just a couple of months’ prior notice,” he weighed in, speaking in reference to ‘Parwaaz Hai Junoon’, which was supposed to release earlier on Eid ul Fitr this year.

The director also shared how he does not think PHJ is an Eid film, “It would be better suited for 14th August or 6th September,” he suggests.

Having said that, Nabeel agreed that both films look good and eventually it will be word-of-mouth that will usher in the audience.

All three films will battle it out next month on Eid ul Azha, and only time will tell which one is a bigger hit!
