The Pakistan High Commission, UK marked Pakistan Day this year by holding an event for women, showcasing Pakistani fashion and jewellery.
Held on 8 March 2018 in London, the event was attended by the spouses of diplomats, ambassadors and other prominent ladies.
As it was women’s day, the organiser of the event and wife of the Pakistan High Commissioner, Mrs. Sadaf Abbas took the opportunity to mark it as a celebration of the women of Pakistan as well. Speaking to the attendees, she said
“On the occasion of Women’s Day, I am happy to say that since our independence 70 years ago – Women in Pakistan, have come a long way….
Today, women in Pakistan are making strides in all walks of life be it representation in the Parliament, promising entrepreneurs, civil servants, armed forces, academia, sports, films, media, to name few…
There is no better way for women to celebrate joyous occasions, than to get together and enjoy fashion, jewellery, mingle and chit chat over the Pakistani high tea, to follow the fashion show.”
The bridal outfits for the show were designed by Rana Noman and the jewellery was designed by Naila Noornai.
