After an impactful season last year, which ultimately gave us gems like Kashmir and Badnaam, Pepsi Battle of the Bands has finally begun its Season 3, bringing us a whole new bunch of talented musicians, and great music. Powerhouses Fawad Khan, Meesha Shafi and Farooq Ahmed took the judges’ seat once again to assess the best of the best, making for a compelling first episode.
Out of the many captivating performances, here are our personal favourite moments that made this episode truly memorable!
The Sufi Vibe
While rock bands are everyone’s favourite, we loved the strong sufi-esque numbers this episode brought forth. Xarb sang a compelling version of the Sabri Brother’s ‘Tashnagi’, while Dhool bowled us (and the judges!) over with their rendition of ‘Nukta’.
The standing ovation and 10/10s!
While the judges are the perfect critics for the job, providing feedback and advice where required, it’s great to see them not hold back when it comes to appreciation. The rare standing ovations and straight out 10/10s were enough to make us proud of the talent coming forth!
Ifra from I.F.R.A
It’s great to see BOTB serve as a platform where female musicians can come and explore their talent, as well as take the opportunity to join what can be called a predominantly male industry. Meesha Shafi appreciating lead singer Ifra, from the band I.F.R.A, and calling her a superstar was a great noteworthy and motivating moment from the episode.
Band Tamasha brought such great energy and antics to the stage, making it a fun performance to not only hear but also watch! Their rendition of the power-packed ‘Raag Neela’ was innovative and super fun. We’re hoping to see more of this kind of Tamasha!
