The Pakistan Fashion and Design Design collaborated with L’Oreal Pakistan for the fifth time  for PFDC L’Oreal Bridal Week 2015.

PFDC L’Oreal Bridal Week 2015 Day 1 showcased 8 designers . As usual there were some  collections that we loved and then there were some collections that muddled us as to what the designer was thinking before creating such a collection.

Karma Red

Maheen Kardar’s “Shehzadi Rang Aur Samarkand Ki Rani” had  the signature reds and pink  with lots of gota and sequences.

Ali Xeeshan Theatre Studio

The “Tufaan” collection by Ali Xeeshan was extremely funky, filled with colors , glam and a lot of bling. Sohai Ali Abro and Meesha walked the ramp as his showstopper . However, the Desi Mickey and Minnie  stole all the show and become the stars of the night.

Bank Alfalah Rising Talent Show

Here 4 new designers showcased their  collections in the PLBW 2015 for the very first time.

-Faiza Saqlain’s collection was inspired by the glory of  Elizabethan Era of Queen Elizabeth 1 mixed with modern contemporary cuts.

-JEEM by Hamza Bokhari showcased the bridal collection titled “Ruzzkiy Kukly”, a tale of Babushka Doll who visited Pakistan. This is my favorite collections from the rising talent show.

-Maheen Taseer showcased her new bridal collection, “Vailliant” with lot’s of silks and velvets with antique embellishments.

-Zarmisha Dar showcased her new bridal collection, “Gullistan” with the traditional dabka and gota with a lot of thread work.

Republic by Omer Farooq’s ‘Rosa’ collection is inspired by the Greek ornaments and art.  However, I did not find anything new in this collection as I have seen a lot of similar pieces available out there.

Elan’s The “Jasmine Court” collection is a tribute to to the Maharajas and Nizam’s of the Sub continent in the 18th century. I am not sure if I like it or not. What do you guys think?

Keep checking the space for Day 2 journal which is coming soon.
