Summer in Pakistan obviously means extreme heat and load-shedding. Luckily, it also means that we’ll have the best, fresh fruits in season! From mangoes to peaches, falsas, cherries and watermelon, all are readily available to eat and to make some scrumptious drinks and desserts.

Here are 4 tried and tested recipes for some fun refreshing drinks to try at home. You can drink them as is or even freeze them as popsicles to enjoy with the kids!

Watermelon Lemonade

Ingredients:
Watermelon
Sugar
Water
Lemon Juice

Take 4 cups of cubed watermelon and purée in the blender. In a saucepan mix ½ cup sugar and ½ cup water and bring to a boil. Once the sugar dissolves, stir in 3 cups of cold water and ½ cup of fresh lemon juice. In a large jug put 6 cups of ice, add the watermelon puree and then pour the lemon juice. Gently stir and serve.

Falsa Juice

Ingredients:
Falsas
Water
Sugar
Black salt

Blend 1kg falsa, 2 cups of water, ½ cup sugar and 2 tblsp black salt in a blender. Strain using 1 cup of chilled water and voilà!

Peachy Cooler

Ingredients:
Peaches
Water
Sugar
Lemon
Mint Leaves

Take 4 peaches and cut them into slices. Blend the slices with 2½ cups of water, 5 tbsp sugar, juice of 1 lemon, and ice cubes. Pour into glasses and garnish with peach slices and mint leaves.

Mango Citrus Mocktail

Ingredients:
Mangoes
Orange Juice
Lemon Juice
Water

In a blender, process 2 mangoes (peeled and sliced), 2 cups orange juice, 2 cups water, 8 ice cubes and the juice of 2 lemons. Pour the mixture into a jug and refrigerate. When ready to serve, add some water to dilute the mixture and stir.
