A love triangle? No. A girl next door story, certainly not. Wrong No is the story of a young lad that aspires big and dreams even bigger! A trait many a Pakistani young men can relate to. Danish Taimoor plays the role of Sallu – A typical desi guy who is a rebel at heart and is willing to take extreme measures due to the escapism that prevails in our society. He is destined to marry Laila, played by Sohai Ali Abro, the girl next door who goes over the moon by just looking at his shirtless profile (quite literally). Set in the streets of Karachi, their life revolves around family drama, family business and family values. Hailing from a butcher’s background, Sallu defies Haji Abba, played by Javed Sheikh, in every way possible.

Meanwhile, in Lahore, the grandson of a tycoon is all set to take over his business empire and is finally coming back to his homeland. Sheharyar is to meet Hayaa, the office blondie played to perfection by Janita Asma, who is in charge of receiving him & familiarizing him with the business.

However, that is not to be. Sallu learns that he is the doppelganger of Sheharyar and plots a way to exchange lives with him. While Sheharyar is stuck in Haji Abba’s butcher shop, Sallu is having the time of his life in his shoes. In between all of this, they fall in love. Who loves who, that is for you to find out but surely there is a lot of fun & laughter involved as the film lives up to its claim of being a comedy thriller.

Here’s 10 reasons why you should definitely dial the Wrong No this Eid:

  1. The laughter pangs. The humor is right up the alley. 10 points for the dialogue writer who depicted Punjabi as well as Bhai lingo perfectly.
  2. The lack of vulgarity. There’s some new trend in Lollywood of item numbers, albeit sad ones, and we were relieved to find none in this movie.
  3. The seamless entertainment. You will be thoroughly enthralled through out the screen time and will not find a lull moment in there.
  4. The Desi Christian Grey. Minus the whole sexual appeal. Danish Taimoor looks dapper and acts crisp for the part of Sheharyar.
  5. The babes. Ever heard of there is something for everyone? Yeap, that’s right. If you’re into the desi girl type then you’ll definitely love Laila (Sohai Ali Abro) and if your taste is inclined towards the modern women then Hayaa (Janita Asma) is what you’re looking for. Bonus: Tooba Siddiqui looks utterly beautiful in a special appearance for a music number.
  6. Shera – It’s a creepy treat, but a treat nevertheless, to watch Shafqat Cheema on the big screen. Warning: He will give you the shudders.
  7. Haji Abba – Perfect portrayal of a Pakistani father who listens to no one & believes his word is the final commandment.
  8. Bhabhi Jee – Chalti jaye, chalti jaye. We all have that one family member who just does not know when to shut up. Bhabhi jee is just that.
  9. The 3 goons. Their lame attempts at trying to act tough will kill you. You would certainly almost pity their Sholay-inspired vehicle, how the poor thing managed to move at all is a miracle.
  10. The kid. Thanks to him you will now know what every guy goes through at one point or another in his life. The little thing is endearingly miserable when he says: “Upar chirya dekhoonga tou ap neechay se chirya ura dou gey.”

The ending could have been a tad bit longer as it felt somewhat abrupt. All in all, the film was exceptionally entertaining, quite relatable & highly recommended.
