It’s official now. We are in the third wave - lockdowns are being implemented in different parts of the country. A complete ban on weddings - indoor and outdoor - is expected to be implemented. While our vaccination drive seems to be lagging, registrations are now open for those over 50. To make things even ‘brighter, there is a heatwave over the weekend in Karachi. So I had to think very carefully about how to ensure a safer yet wholesome weekend for all of us.
Eat:
I will go back for some more of that Chicken Karaage to Bao Bae this weekend. But I do have another recommendation - make your own dinner! Sharing my top secret, Iraqi family recipe for a shakshuka here.
Do:
Get vaccinated: The Sputnik V is currently being administered by OMI Hospital in Karachi. There seems to be a bit of uncertainty about the price but when I called them I was told that the price is Rs 12,268. The vaccine will be available at more hospitals soon.
Visit ‘Bohemian: A Fair for Creatives’ taking place at the Royal Rodale Club on 3rd and 4th April. In previous years I have found some fantastic art, crafts, jewellery and apparel at the fair. I will skip it this year given the Covid19 situation. Given that it may well be one of the last ‘events’ for a long time, you may want to go and support the arts but please do remember SOPs and remind others too!
Buy:
I do love a spot of bling. My go-to jewelry pieces are rings and earrings and I came across some fab ones by U&I by Aneena Unus at the Green Bean Farmers’ Market. These are hand made, right here in Karachi. Most of the pieces are 24-carat gold plated with a really fine finish. Do check out their Urdu alphabet range which is a great for gift giving.
