Students with their Bachelor Degrees are now able to directly apply for their PhDs in Pakistan.

Students with 16 years of education can now apply for admissions in a PhD degree, according to the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan Chairperson, Tariq Banuri.

Declaring the new strategies for PhD affirmations and undergrad schooling, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has said that an undergraduate student can now straightforwardly apply for PhD in the wake of finishing his/her Bachelor's certificates.

This implies that a BS degree will be the base qualification for the PhD application. The new arrangement has just been authorized for the current year in January in all open and private colleges. For the application process of PhD programs, First Division in the yearly framework and a base CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 in the semester framework is required. Also, an undergrad seeking after a PhD should take up a course heap of 48 credit hours.

According to the new approach, the most extreme length of a PhD degree will be eight years, with the minimum requirement being three years. The necessity to send PhD theses to unfamiliar specialists for audit has been eliminated and papers would now be able to be shipped off Pakistani specialists as well.

Universities offering Bachelor’s programmes will have a requirement to provide internships to students. “We have instructed the management to include practical courses and extra-curricular subjects in the courses as well.” This implies understudies who have finished their Bachelor's certificates would now be able to select PhD straightforwardly.

Banuri added that every programme should have compulsory social sciences subjects. “Two year Bs/Bsc degrees should be renamed the Associate Degree Programmes.”
