Prince Harry and Megan Markle have been asked to drop $150 million deal with Netflix after the streaming platform's popular show 'The Crown' portrayed members of the Royal Family in a disrespectful and negative light.
The fiasco caused by the show led to reports about how Prince Harry would react following the streaming platform's disrespectful actions against one of the oldest and well reputed families in history. More news reports circulated after the events which ensued, claiming that the former suits star Megan Markle and Prince Harry himself were benefitting from their deal whilst the truth about the senior royals was being inaccurately depicted, with the monarchy being spoken ill off.
Amid the backlash faced by The Crown, Prince Harry's association with Netflix's production only seems to validate the fact that commercial media and the monarchy cannot go hand in hand. Now, with the late and beloved Princess Diana coming into the fold, the fabrications and unrealistic portrayals of the Royal Family's history has sparked outrage.
In fact, a letter was sent to renowned publication, The Guardian on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, from her Communications secretary, denouncing that the programme and its content was in fact endorsed by the family themselves.
"“We appreciate that readers of The Guardian may enjoy this fictionalised interpretation of historical events but they should do so knowing that the royal household is not complicit in interpretations made by the programme,” they added that "The royal household has never agreed to vet or approve content, has not asked to know what topics will be included, and would never express a view as to the programme’s accuracy,”
According to GeoNews it has been reported that Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry are all deeply hurt by the content that aired earlier this week, showing a version of their own story in a way which portrayed them in the way it did. The matter has gone so far that the public are requesting the Queen not to reinstate Prince Harry and Megan Markle's titles. Express conducted a poll regarding the matter and 94% of the public voted against a regrant of the couple's titles.
