These 5 home made refreshing drinks will keep you going all day even if it feels like the sun is coming to get you.

Mango Smoothie:

The King of fruits, mango is available during this time of the year and one drink can fight heatstroke and save a life. A smoothie that tastes heavenly and won’t leave you hungry before lunch!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chopped ripe mango
  • ½ cup low-fat milk
  • ½ cup ice
  • ¼ cup plain low-fat yogurt
  • 1 tbsp honey

Directions:

Place the mango, milk, ice, yogurt, and honey in a blender, blend until smooth and frothy

Watermelon Lemonade:

Melons are the best fruit to beat the heat of the summer. It helps in reducing the risk of kidney problems and is good for digestion.  Jazz up your drink by adding mint leaves to your summer treat!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2cup water
  • 4 cups cubed watermelon
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 6 cups ice cubes

Directions:

Place the watermelon into a blender. Cover and blend puree until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve. Bring sugar and 1/2 cup water to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat until sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Remove from stove. Stir in 3 cups of cold water and the lemon juice. Divide the ice into 12 glasses, and scoop 2 to 3 tablespoons of watermelon puree over the ice, then top with the lemonade. Gently stir before serving.

Lassi:

Lassi is surely one of the easiest drinks to make at home. It is considered to be one of the most healthy, tasty and refreshing drinks.  It not only hydrates your body but also helps your skin glow. Lassi can be served as a sweet or savory drink depending on your taste!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2cup water
  • 1/2 cup ice cube
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons sugar (optional)
  • 1 pinch salt

Directions:

Blend the yogurt, ice, water, sugar and salt until mixture becomes frothy. Pour mixture over ice cubes and garnish with mint leaves if desired.

This drink is perhaps the most delightful and least expensive drink of the season to quench your thirst. Shikanjabeen is high in Vitamin C and low in calories, it helps in providing that much needed boost to your immune system. This cool drink really hits the spot!

Ingredients:

  • Lemon juice ¼ cup
  • Lemon juice powder 2 tbsp
  • Ice 1 cup (crushed)
  • Mint leaves 20
  • Sugar 2 tbsp
  • Water 1 ½ cup

Directions:

In a blender add lemon juice, lemon juice powder, ice, mint leaves, sugar and water and blend them well till smooth. Pour in glasses and serve cold.

Falsa Juice:

Falsa is a much-awaited fruit by many, in the summer. The consumption of Falsas is said to be good for heart, throat troubles and curing fevers. This tangy sweet drink will leave you wanting more!

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg Falsa
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup Water

Directions:

Soak falsa in 2 or 2 1/2 cup of water for at least 6 hours otherwise soak them overnight. Then blend it 2, 3 times in a blender (with that water in which you soaked falsa overnight). Now take fine muslin cloth (malmalkakapra) and strain the juice. All seeds will get discarded and you will get clean falsa juice. Now cook water and sugar until it gets thick, then allow it to cool. Then add rose water in falsa juice and add this falsa juice in sugar and water mixture (sheera) and mix it well. Serve chilled with ice cubes and black salt.
