Singer and song-writer Momina Mustehsan’s latest song is about personal survival. Something the talented star knows something about – she says she has struggled with the “lowest lows internally” when she seemed to be at the peak of her fame.

Her single Jee Liya for Cornetto Pop Rock Season 2 is inspired from their own stories. The song is written and composed by Abbas Ali Khan and the video has been directed by Dawer Khan with Asad-Ul-Haq as the Executive Producer.

“I had to struggle to write my own narrative, find my own identity, and continue to fight with myself to keep at it,”

The video and song for Momina’s Jee Liya have a light peppy pop tone that seems to be targeting younger girls. Momina is dressed in iconic boho uniform fringe jacket and statement tee plus those ajrak pants which sparked criticism for cultural insensitivity.

Although pleasant enough there is nothing very memorable about Jee Liya – it’s sweet, easy listening that will dissolve from your memory – which is perhaps to be expected from a pop song produced by Cornetto.

The song opens with a slide featuring a quote from Momina “I always aims to use my music as a medium to inspire people, to keep themselves going, strong and brave even in the light of negativity around them. If you have ever fallen down, lost hope, gathered yourself up and bravely moved on, Momina’s Jee Liya is a song that will hopefully connect with you.”

The song lyrics are about how one should never stop living despite the odds and the theme for the video is finding happiness in small things in life despite all the hardships and obstacles that cross one’s path.
