This week, jeweller Shafaq Habib is on our radar! It’s no secret that the Edition team loves investment pieces so we sat down to talk to the designer behind the brand itself and here’s what she had to say!

How did the brand Shafaq Habib come about?
I feel like it was my destiny. I have always been very fond of jewellery and while living in New York I craved jewellery that was fusion of contemporary and traditional styles. But I could never find anything like that. That led me to create my own style and within a short period with Allah’s blessings, it became a brand.

What is your brand philosophy?
I believe jewellery should be reflection of the wearer’s personality. My jewellery pieces are meticulously handcrafted with precious and semi precious material and given the highest attention to detail. Each piece depicts a unique and beautiful affair between design and gemstones.

Do you work with all materials or just precious/semi precious?
We work in both precious and semi precious materials.

Is your focus on fusion or purely eastern jewellery?
Our main focus is on fusion. We do try to provide a whole spectrum of styles, to cater to the various needs of our clients.

What is your take on new jewellery designers who use copper and nickel?
Everybody has their own way of making jewellery but I personally think that jewellery should be timeless. And to endure the test of time, it is important for it to be crafted from the finest material available.

If you could design pieces for 3 people (can be dead or alive), who would they be?
Elizabeth Taylor, Angelina Jolie and Coco Chanel

What should we expect next?
The process of creating and innovating is on-going. We are constantly coming up with new ideas to keep things fresh and interesting.
