We are well aware everything is about Covid 19 - or the Corona Virus - these days and it is a source of panic, uncertainty and anxiety.

Fear not, instead of spreading the fear, let us guide you through ways to boost your immunity through this period and life itself so we are as healthy as we can possibly strive to be via the use of natural herbs!

We have 5 ayurvedic recommended totkas - as a collective subcontinent, we have adopted remedies from Pakistan and some from the deep heart of India.

Neem

The leaves which come from the neem tree or also known as the Indian lilac is a very resourceful and widely used hers in Pakistan also! In fact, most of you may have it growing in your gardens too. This is known to repair the epithelial lining of the gut, which houses 70% of our immunity, as well as the respiratory tract.

Chyavanprash

This is a cooked mixture of sugar, honey, ghee, Indian gooseberry (amla) jam, sesame oil, berries and various herbs and spices and is recommended once or twice a day (just a teaspoon though!) Our grandparents say once or twice a week is good enough to - you will of course need to see how well it suits you! This is primarily good for immunity, your hair and memory.

Turmeric

Also commonly known as haldi. Yes, growing up that totka of haldi wala doodh and haldi paani is all true. It is a known natural antiviral that supports the delicate bacterial-rich environment that lines your gut and respiratory tract. Having this a few times a week for a few months will show you benefits.

Holy Basil

Also known as neem locally, this is a great stress-fighting adaptogen and powerful antiviral! We generally incorporate this in our foods as dressing but having neem water a few times a week proves to be quite successful in keeping you healthy and anxiety free!

Ashwaghanda

This is an ancient medicinal herb which is a powerful immune booster and adaptogen, helping you to fight off stress and also provides numerous other benefits for your body and brain.

Please remember, keep washing your hands for 20 seconds and maintaining social distance regardless of these ayurvedic remedies!
