There aren't many concerns a good face mask can't fix.
However, purchasing high-end skincare products can be extremely heavy on your pocket. Next time you have a skin concern that needs addressing, open up your kitchen cupboard, and whip up a quick DIY facemask!
The ingredient of the day is…. HONEY!
Raw honey is naturally made by bees and is packed with about 300 ingredients that help both oily and dry skin. Rich in antioxidants and antibacterial enzymes, honey treats acne, wrinkles, scarring and makes your skin glow as well!
Before applying honey to your face, make sure you perform a patch test! (If you have a pollen allergy, you should avoid using these facemasks)
To Improve Uneven Skin Texture And Tone
Using yoghurt in face masks replenishes your skin by removing rough skin cells and uncovering newer, brighter ones. This ingredient, paired with turmeric, is perfect for combatting pigmentation, mainly if it is a result of sun exposure! The honey is the ingredient that ties this mask together by making the skin soft and elastic!
Add one tablespoon of natural yoghurt, one tablespoon of turmeric powder and one tablespoon of honey in a small bowl. Mix the ingredients until a consistent paste is formed, and apply it to your face. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes and wash it off with warm water.
To Nourish and Moisturize Your Skin
Oats are another superfood that are a staple for your pantry and your face masks! Similar to honey, oats are packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, allowing it to treat dry skin and remove dead skin cells as well.
Mix two tablespoons of cooked oatmeal and one tablespoon of raw honey until it is smooth. Gently massage it onto your face and neck, and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Wash it off with warm water. Repeat this face mask for dry skin twice or thrice a week.
To Fight Acne And Blemishes
One-ingredient treatments are our favourite! You couldn't ask for a more quick and straightforward facemask to make. Honey has many benefits, and fighting acne is one of them. All you need to do is dab raw honey directly on the blemish to not only calm inflammation and redness but also fight bacteria and unclog pores. Leave it on for 15 minutes, and then rinse it off with warm water.
Fun Fact: Cleopatra loved to incorporate honey in her daily beauty routine, and wouldn't we all love to channel our inner queen!
