Having known and delved in all things grand and opulent, the Shehla Chatoor label specializes in couture and grandeur. After her first solo show last year, ‘Nur E Alaleh’, this year the designer brought ‘Aks’, a bridal collection that focused on exquisite mirror work.

Set against the backdrop of the Old Custom House Karachi, the runway was set and the decor glistened, transforming the area into the perfect venue for the grand show that would unfold. The models paraded the gleaming runway, at a slow pace we must say, decked up in gorgeous elaborately embellished ensembles by Shehla. Featuring cascading ruffles, skirts with long trails, a couple of short and long jackets and lots of ivory, silver and gold hues, ‘Aks’ combined Shehla’s signature mod style with heritage bridal wear.

While there were a lot of Shehla’s signature ivory and silvers, it was the blacks that stood out for us. Another noteworthy element was the sleek, understated menswear. From kurtas and waistcoats in pale pinks and powder blues to the sleek prince coat in black, each was immaculately cut, stylish and wearable unlike a lot of groomswear options out there.

Of course the beauty of couture lies in its details, and boy were there details! From gorgeous cut out backs, to sparkling clutches and mini purses in various designs. An especially trendy fanny pack style bejewelled belt bag caught our eye and took the cake!
