According to the United Nations Development Programme, Sustain Development Goals, known as SDG involve Climate Action (goal 13) which aims to 'mobilize US$100 billion annually by 2020 to address the needs of developing countries to both adapt to climate change and invest in low-carbon development.'

Climate action focuses on intensified efforts to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases and to build resilience for adapting to climate-related hazards. By means of education and spreading awareness about the consequences of neglecting the climate and environmental issues at hand, more people will register how detrimental the threat of global warming is.

According to the United Nations Development Programme:

'Supporting vulnerable regions will directly contribute not only to Goal 13 but also to the other SDGs. These actions must also go hand in hand with efforts to integrate disaster risk measures, sustainable natural resource management, and human security into national development strategies.'

Meanwhile, Pakistan has achieved an incredible milestone in meeting Goal 13 - Climate Action, according to the UN Sustainable Development Report. Adviser to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam announced the meeting of SDG 13 well before the 2030 deadline, a monumental achievement for further focusing on and pursuing the other goals, including poverty and hunger elimination, improving the provision of quality healthcare, efficient education, clean and hygienic water and sanitation service, gender equality and peace.

He further went on to declare to reporters "With the achieving of the Climate Action SDG 13, Pakistan has proved that it is committed to global efforts against the challenge of climate change to protect life on the planet earth,"

Pakistan is ranked among the 5 countries affected by extreme weather changes; major initiatives taken to combat climate change include the '10 Billion Tree Tsunami', 'Protected Areas Initiative', 'Clean Green Pakistan Initiative', to name a few.

Malik Amin spoke with the The News assessing the environmental crisis,

"Global heating is disrupting not only national economies and affecting lives and livelihoods of people and countries dearly today and even more tomorrow. Because of the soaring climate altering carbon emissions globally, people and communities are experiencing the significant impacts of human caused-climate change including rapidly changing weather patterns, rising sea level, heat waves, droughts, expanding desertification, forest fires, cyclones, unseasonal rains and torrential floods,"

The only way to help the environment and combat climate change involves turning to more renewable forms of energy and adapting to sustainable and climate friendly methods, via educating people in the country about the impact of climate change and how they can play their part.
