Sindh Transport Minister Syed Awais Qadir Shah has announced to reopen public transport in Sindh after Eid ul Fitr.

Sindh Transport Minister Syed Awais Qadir Shah has announced that the public transport will resume throughout the province three days after Eid ul Fitr.

“We plan to allow public transport after three days of Eid holidays”. He said.

The development comes a day after Syed Awais Shah refused to resume transportation services, saying that the rising number of coronavirus patients in the country is increasing rapidly now. So to reopen public transport he has started preparations under the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). He added, “However, this relaxation would be allowed only under the defined standard operating procedures (SOPs), which have to be followed both by transporters and passengers for the safety and health of everyone”.With all this Awais shah has also announced a relief package for all the transporters, who went through a huge loss due to the lockdown.

A day earlier, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa deiced to resume transport services. And the announcements came right after Prime Minister Imran Khan's request to the provincial authorities to open public transport. Later the KP government decided to reopen Public transport from Monday but only in one condition that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) shall be followed by all those using transport as well as passengers.

Meanwhile, Balochistan government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani stated that the provincial government had not yet made a decision regarding the reopening of public transport.
