Online dating has become a taboo in Pakistan with prominent apps getting banned with no sign of an overturning.

The PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) has done it all, not too recently the PTA took action against five different dating apps in Pakistan for immoral content. The infamous apps used for meeting people romantically are used by hundreds and thousands of Pakistanis.

Many may have found love and friendship but many have also had awful experiences but is that not the case with every app we use? Tinder, Grindr, Tagged, Skout and SayHi were some of the most used apps in the country. Tinder just itself has been downloaded 440,000 times by our Pakistani crowd in hopes of finding a partner.

YouTube has been directed by the PTA to block immoral, vulgar, nude and hate speech content for viewing in Pakistan which made the ban much easier for the popular social media app TikTok where many had made their careers.

"If adults choose to be on an app, it is not for the state to dictate whether they should use it or not," said Shahzad Ahmad, director of Bytes For All, a Pakistani digital rights group, reported DW.com.
